Sylvia Park

Just 5 minutes from Mount Richmond Hotel is one of Auckland’s best shopping destinations, Sylvia Park. Home to popular local and international brands’ flagship New Zealand stores, there is great shopping and great entertainment to be had at Sylvia Park.

At HOYTS Sylvia Park, you can enjoy premium cinema experience at HOYTS LUX or get a fully immersive cinema experience at Xtremescreen with a huge screen and audio system. Around the World Mini Golf offers a fun attraction for the whole family or enjoy a meal from one of the many restaurants and bars on offer.

 


Mount Smart Stadium

Situated just 3km  from Mount Smart Stadium, Mount Richmond Hotel is a great choice for accommodation if you are coming to Auckland for a sporting event like the Warriors home games or an upcoming concert or festival. Getting there via taxi shuttle or Uber is fast and affordable, and our PoolSide Restaurant is a great place to have some pre-game drinks or snacks. Other than our great onsite PoolSide Restaurant, there are many great dining options nearby to try;  Modern dining at Sylvia Park shopping mall, and great Asian options and cheap eats in Otahuhu township. Some of our favourites:

  • Thai Secret Garden, Thai food in a gorgeous garden – 25 Station Rd, Otahuhu Township.
  • Samwoo, Vietnamese food in a no-frills dining hall – 15 Princes St, Otahuhu Township.
  • Garrisons Public House, modern European bistro pub – Sylvia Park.

Parks & Reserves

  • Mount Richmond Domain – Just across the road this dormant volcano and historic Māori pā.
  • Seaside Park – Wander through nearby suburban housing to Seaside Park for a walk along the shoreline. 20 mins walk to park.
  • Cornwall Park  – A beautiful large park with several walks, coin operated BBQs, a couple of great cafes, the Stardome Observatory & Planetarium as well as a free 5km run/walk every Saturday at 8am meeting at the bandstand. Eight kilometres to park. Swimming pools free of charge.

Leisure Centre

Otahuhu Pool & Leisure Centre offers 6 pools including 25m lap pool, professional gym and group fitness classes – Maison Avenue, Otahuhu


Indoor Rock Climbing

Extreme Edge Rock Climbing is a great indoor rock climbing centre for adults and children alike. Adults $22.50 and children $17.50. 40c Morrin Road, Panmure – Head east on the train from Otahuhu station to Panmure Train Station. Extreme Edge is 15 minutes walk from the Panmure Train station.


Indoor Go Karting

Extreme Indoor Karts is New Zealand’s only two level indoor go kart track and is great fun for thrillseekers. Pricing from $32. Ten minutes drive – 82b Kerwyn Ave, East Tamaki/Highbrook.


Rainbows End Outdoor Theme Park

Rainbows End is one of Auckland’s top attractions for families visiting from out of town. Adults $62, children $52. Head east on the train from Otahuhu Station to Manukau Train Station. Rainbows End is 5 minutes walk from the Manukau Train Station.
